I wish I had ideas. I myself am looking for something I can do from home myself. If I find anything out I will let you know.

Although my boys are older now and I am able to work out of the house (only 6 hours on the weekend) I have done many things to be able to stay home with them when they were smaller. You may not be interested, but these are some of the things I did...

1) Babysit at home part-time. I was able to earn a little and help some friends out by watching their kids a day or two per week. I purposely did not do the full 7:30 - 5:30 gig because I wanted to be able to go to the library and shopping with just my kiddos.

2) Home show/sales. I sold candles a few years back and more recently, kitchen gadget. It was not my favorite thing to do, but I made enough doing it that I could stay home with the boys and still help out with the bills.

3) Enter craft shows. I think the most I ever made at this was about $400.00 at a single show. This works better if you have one or two friends you can split the price of the booth. This is also helpful because you can pool your crafts and make it look like you have much more to sell.
One drawback here is that you have to spend money to make money. I would suggest that if you are seriously considering doing this, that you take some time to visit craft shows and see what's "hot". You don't want to spend a lot of time on crafts that won't sell. Just as a side note, anything that I made that did not sell became a Christmas present, so nothing went to waste.

4) Not a lot of fun, but I have done ironing for other people. I was still doing this until just this past March when I got my current job and I am still surprised how much people would pay me to iron their clothes. I would set up the ironing board/iron and turn the TV on PBS or a Christian channel and iron away. Call several dry cleaners in town to find out what they charge and set your price a around there. I always got business by word of mouth, but you could put an ad in the paper, too.

5) One of the things I did in grad school was proofread papers for other students. Again, word of mouth or school newspaper works best. You can make a lot on some of the longer papers.

6) I was the director of a drop-in daycare center at a church just two mornings a week (parents day out program). The nice thing about this was that, although I was technically working out of the house, I was getting paid and my kids could attend for free. They were never too far away from me and they got a chance to meet/socialize with other toddlers.

Now I know I've thrown a lot at you but I hope even one of these things can be of some help to you. I applaud your attempt to stay home with your little one. Sometime things can get really tight financially, but it is so worth the effort to make it work if that's what you want. Let me know if you have any questions on any of this stuff and good luck!

I host home parties for home and garden party. I usually entertain people who have children and include them in the parties. This way I can stay home with my kids..make money..make friends and ejoy life.
